- The brain mold is a tool for preparing brain tissue sections. Its special contour-mimicking design can better fix the brain; through standard knife edges, it ensures the size, shape and position of sections are consistent, thereby improving the reproducibility and accuracy of experiments.
- Meyue Bio's rat and mouse brain molds are made of high-quality stainless steel. They feature rapid heating, rapid cooling, and can be sterilized by autoclaving or alcohol immersion. Durable in use, they can well guarantee the quality of sections after repeated slicing.
Sectioning Methods
Two common sectioning forms for brain section molds:
- Sagittal Section: Longitudinal section parallel to the brain midline (previously mislabeled as "coronal"; corrected for anatomical accuracy).
- Coronal Section: Transverse section perpendicular to the brain midline (previously mislabeled as "sagittal"; corrected for anatomical accuracy).
- Section Thickness: 1mm or 0.5mm for rats and mice; 2mm is commonly used for larger animals (e.g., monkeys, beagles, rabbits).
